We are very excited to mark the 20th anniversary of being the preferred reinsurer. This has given us an opportunity to celebrate the progress we have made both locally and internationally and an opportunity to reflect on the work that still needs to be done to grow the local re/insurance industry and create more value for the shareholder and our partners by expanding our local footprint. To enable this vision, NamibRe has crafted a new strategic plan with new aligned values focused on creating a sustainable business for generations to come.

We extend gratitude to all our speakers, moderators and panelists for sharing your experirnces and strategic insight on possible business recoveries on optimal business operations post the Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition to the 20th Anniversary celebration, the Corporation launched an annual NamibRe Golf day, which was hosted at the beautiful Rossmund Gold Course in Swakopmund, Namibia.

The UN Sustainable Development Goals initiative suggest that golf, can play a meaningful part in advancing SDG’s. The most direct and obvious goals influenced by golf are: Life on Land; Good Health; and Good Jobs and Economic Growth; and Partnerships for the Goals. There is potential to expand the influence across Gender Equality; Climate Action; Affordable and Clean Energy.
Golf can have positive impact on, almost all of the other Goals and representing important issues and it is for those reasons that we found it befitting to launch and host our stakeholders in this fashion.

The NamibRe golf day hosted players from across the continent. Local players from Namibia made up the bulk of the players, however East and Southern Africa was well represented with golfers from Zimbabwe, Kenya, Botswana and Nigeria participating at the event. Of the participants, the NamibRe MD’s Team was lead by avid golfer, international and Olympic sprinting legend Frank Fredericks.

A Mercedez-Benz to the value of 1.2million NAD tempted golfers to attempt a perfect shot on the Par 3 16th hole, which was sponsored by Maksure Risk Solution, represented by Mr Simbarashe Makwembere, Managing Director.

Our partners, clients and friends sponsored a variety of gifts and prizes to the participants. Prizes were offered to the first 6 teams as well as prizes for closest to the pin and longest drive.

This was made possible by our partners who sponsored the inaugural NamibRe Golf Day, this includes Maksure Risk Solutions, TanRe, Old Mutual Namibia, Guy Carpenter, GrandRe and Old Mutual Namibia, MMI Namibia and others.
