NDF soldier threatens to kill family

A member of the Namibian Defence Force Member (NDF) was arrested on Monday after he threatened to burn the house, kill his mother, children in his homestead and then take his own life at Elondo village in the Omusati region.

According to Omusati Regional Crime Coordinator Moses Simao, the suspect, the 36-year-old Amulungu Petrus is an NDF member at Ruacana military base and the case docket has been forwarded to Gender Based Violence (G.B.V) in the Police to investigate it further.

Meanwhile in a separate incident also on Monday at Onamulunga village in the Outapi Constituency Kristof Tulimefimbo Aindongo, (40) shot himself with a shotgun in the head and died on the spot in his sleeping room. No foul play is expected and no suicide note left.

According to Simao, the body is being kept at the Outapi District Hospital mortuary and will be transported to Okahao police mortuary for a post-mortem.

At the Omatelekelo village in Ogongo Constituency, 58-year-old Reinhilde Ekondo committed suicide by hanging herself with an electrical cable. No foul play is expected and no suicide note left behind.

The body has been transported to Okahao police mortuary for an autopsy to determine the real cause of death.
