Afrail Inc, a premier infrastructure and smart mobility company pioneering eco-friendly transit systems across Africa, the Middle East, and the United States, has appointed Dr John Steytler to its global advisory board.

Steytler, former CEO of the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN), and Namibia’s first Statistician General, is one of Namibia’s leading and most accomplished economists. He brings decades of expertise in economic policy, statistical systems, and development finance, having also served at the Bank of Namibia and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

He also previously served as economic advisor to the Presidency of the Republic of Namibia, under the late President, Hage Geingob, where he provided high-level policy guidance on national development and economic planning. He holds a PhD in Economics and advanced degrees in cooperative and financial economics.

“We’re honored to welcome Dr Steytler to our global advisory board,” said Radhey Verma, CEO of Afrail Inc. “His experience and vision will be key as we deliver transformative, data-driven infrastructure across Africa.”

Steytler joins a growing cohort of influential leaders shaping Afrail Inc.’s continental and global strategy. Namene Kalili has recently been appointed Vice President and Country Director for Namibia, effective 1 July, 2025. A seasoned economist with experience at FNB Namibia and the Road Fund Administration, Kalili will oversee national operations and spearhead infrastructure delivery in Namibia.

Dr Smart Dumba, an expert in urban transport and Associate Professor at Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), has also joined the Afrail Inc. Global Advisory Board. He will help guide AfrailX’s design and implementation, with a particular focus on urban mobility solutions in Northern Namibia.

These appointments come as Afrail Inc prepares to deploy its flagship urban mass transit system, AfrailX, across major African cities—starting with Northern Namibia. The company is also launching ArailX, the U.S. counterpart to AfrailX, beginning in South Florida, marking its strategic global expansion.

To power these systems sustainably, Afrail Inc. is developing a 150 MW solar power plant and a 4-tier next-generation data center in the Oshakati area of Namibia. This infrastructure will support the clean energy and intelligent data processing needs of AfrailX while fostering local economic growth.

Afrail Inc. is revolutionizing the future of urban and intercity mobility with high-speed, eco-friendly, and automated mass transit systems designed for global scalability.

Afrail Inc. is a visionary infrastructure company dedicated to transforming Africa’s future through smart mobility, sustainable energy, and digital innovation. Aligned with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
