The Desert Foxes Football Club, a team of teenagers from Walvis Bay, are gearing up for the FNB Women Super League playoffs. They earned their spot after finishing an unbeaten run to win the 2024/2025 NamPort Erongo Women Football League title.

Founded and funded by coach Baron Brown, the team finished their season without a single loss, winning 16 of their 18 matches and drawing two. They scored 95 goals, collected 50 points, and ended with a goal difference of +94.

Their defence, led by goalkeeper Albertina Mbuka Amoonga, was key to their dominance.

Amoonga conceded only one goal throughout the 18-match season and was named best goalkeeper of the season. Brown was awarded coach of the season, while striker Lucia Ndevahanga won player of the season.

The team also claimed victory at the 2024 RND Beach Soccer Cup, where both of their squads met in an all-Foxes final featuring Brave Gladiators captain Zenatha Coleman..

The club took first and second place, showing the strength and depth of its young players.

Brown said he was proud of what his team achieved.

“We came from literally nothing to becoming regional champions. We had confidence from the get-go but didn’t expect to have such an incredible season. The girls have outdone themselves, and I could not be happier,” he said.

The Desert Foxes’ players are between 12 and 16 years old, making them one of the youngest teams to reach this level of competition. They are now aiming for a place in the FNB Women’s Super League for the 2025/2026 season.

While balancing their school exams, the team is focused on the playoffs taking place this weekend.

“I am fully focused on the playoffs this weekend,” Brown said.

The Desert Foxes will face Aroab Football Academy, Flying Eagles FC, and Golden Mission FC in the promotional playoffs at Independence Stadium on Saturday and Sunday from 09h00.
