A new agreement will see the office of the judiciary move its entire digital infrastructure onto Mobile Telecommunications Company’s (MTC) cloud platform.
The agreement was signed on Thursday in Windhoek. This partnership positions MTC as the judiciary’s official digital partner for cloud hosting services.
The agreement follows a procurement process that awarded MTC the contract to provide a comprehensive enterprise-grade cloud service to the judiciary.
The package includes virtual machines, cloud resources and an integrated digital environment designed to support the judiciary’s growing operational needs.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, deputy executive director in the office of the judiciary Innocent Kandandu said the cloud migration will help build a more agile and resilient digital system.
He said the partnership will strengthen public access to justice by ensuring stable digital services and efficient case management.
“This will enable the judiciary to better serve the public by ensuring reliable access to justice and efficient case management. We remain steadfast in strengthening the legal system and enhancing public trust through innovation and empowerment of local service providers,” he said.
Meanwhile, MTC’s general manager for sales, enterprise, and CRM, Elton Katangolo, said the judiciary plays a critical role in society and that MTC is proud to be trusted with safeguarding its digital operations.
He said the cloud service will provide secure, scalable and compliant infrastructure that protects sensitive information.
“We understand the critical role of data integrity, availability and ease of management in the smooth functioning of an institution such as the office of judiciary,” he said.
Katangolo said MTC has invested heavily in cloud infrastructure to ensure Namibian institutions have access to reliable and affordable world-class solutions that support growth, efficiency and digital transformation.
He added that traditional physical servers are becoming risky, costly and restrictive compared to cloud systems.
“As the world moves digital, traditional hosting of having a physical server has increasingly become risky and costly, and it stifles business growth and innovation. Companies need to leverage cloud computing technology and migrate their data into virtual space,” he said.
