At 24, Ipinge Martin, known as D son TSO, is stepping into the music scene with his first album. He hopes this project marks the start of a long and meaningful journey in the industry.
He grew up in Omuthiya, where his interest in music began with simple sounds around him. He still remembers the hum of his parents’ old radio, the rhythm of daily life and the songs that played during family road trips.
“These moments shaped me deeply. To me music was never just noise. It felt like a language, a way to express emotions too complex for ordinary words,” he said.
He started pursuing music in 2019, inspired by how artists turn their personal stories into universal messages.
“That ability to move people through sound is what encouraged me to add my own voice to the world,” he said. As he experimented with instruments and began writing, he found freedom in expressing joy, heartbreak and growth. This process led him to create his debut album, The Silent Move.
“The album carries a strong message,” he said. He chose the name to encourage people to work quietly and let their results speak for them. “I want my songs to motivate and inspire,” he said. “Sometimes you don’t need to announce your plans. You just make your moves and let the impact show.”
The Silent Move features 12 songs, including three singles, all based on his personal experiences. His CDs are already available, and he is excited to share them with listeners.
Throughout his journey, D son TSO has worked with local talents such as Zoblam, Markes Haufiku, Makwele, Mgee, Wucxa TSO, Lastbandz and 3RTY6IX.
He draws inspiration from Tate Buti, Exit, Mushe, PDK, King Tee Dee and Gazza, artists he grew up admiring.
The road has not been easy. Building visibility as a new artist remains one of his biggest challenges, as he competes with the large amount of music released daily.
Financial strain is also a hurdle because studio time, equipment, marketing and travel are costly for an upcoming musician. He also faces internal pressure as he tries to grow while staying true to his sound. Questions like “Is this good enough?” and “Will people connect with this?” often cross his mind, but he continues with determination.
Despite these challenges, he remains driven by passion. “Music has given me a voice. If my songs inspire even one person, then everything I’ve gone through is worth it.”
With The Silent Move now out, D son TSO is ready to build his name in the music world. His CDs are available for purchase directly from him at +264 81 449 0226.
