There is no room for failure in delivering services, President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah told newly inducted Swapo members of parliament on Wednesday.
She said the party’s return to electoral dominance is a direct mandate for disciplined action.
She addressed the opening of the Swapo party induction workshop for members of the eighth Parliament, where she said recent local and regional authority election results have restored public faith that must now be justified through performance.
“The result of last year’s Regional and Local Authorities Elections, where the Swapo has gained back her glory, is a clear indication that the people of Namibia have faith and hope in the Swapo party and high expectations from the eighth administration,” Nandi-Ndaitwah said.
Nandi-Ndaitwah said the party now holds the National Assembly, the National Council, regional councils and most local authorities, leaving no excuse for poor coordination or weak delivery.
“We have no reason to not coordinate our work and provide the quality services to our people,” she said.
She stressed that all government work must reflect the party’s election commitments.
“Swapo expects all its deployees, including myself, to demonstrate total commitment to the implementation of the Swapo party election manifesto and its implementation plan as transformed into the sixth National Development Plan (NDP6),” she said.
The induction workshop was meant to build a united and effective parliamentary caucus that can translate policy into results.
Under the theme “Parliamentarians Geared Towards Results-Orientated Leadership”, she warned that the words must guide conduct and output.
“Results-orientated leadership requires preparation, mastery of issues, and the ability to turn policy into law, law into action, and action into tangible improvements in the everyday lives of our people.”
The workshop opened with a moment of remembrance for the party’s late leaders.
Nandi-Ndaitwah led a moment of silence for former president Hage Geingob, who died two years ago and founding president Sam Nujoma, who passed away on 8 February 2025.
She said their legacy places a duty on the current leadership to govern with focus and purpose.
