Momentum Group’s results for the six months ended 31 December 2025 show that Namibia contributed to growth in its Africa business.

The group reported a recovery in its Africa segment. Operating profit moved from a loss of N$27 million in the previous period to N$136 million. Normalised headline earnings increased by 87% to N$352 million.

The group said all countries contributed to the improvement. Namibia was named as a key source of growth in retail and corporate new business.

The results show increased insurance activity in Namibia. Growth was seen in corporate protection and retail products.

For the same period, Momentum Group reported normalised headline earnings of N$3.7 billion, up 8%. Operating profit rose 10% to N$3.1 billion. Headline earnings per share increased by 13%.

The group declared an interim dividend of 110 cents per share, up 29%.

Earnings growth came from Guardrisk and Momentum Insure, as well as Metropolitan Life, Momentum Corporate and Momentum Health. Momentum Retail earnings declined due to changes in yield curves.

The group also made changes to its Africa structure. Its Namibian short-term insurance business was moved into Guardrisk. Other Namibia operations now form part of the Africa segment focused on life insurance, asset management and health administration.

New business volumes increased. The present value of new business premiums rose 11% to N$43.3 billion. This included growth from Namibia and other African markets.

However, the value of new business declined by 15%. The group linked this to margin pressure and lower volumes of guaranteed annuities.

Momentum Group’s contractual service margin increased to N$21.2 billion. This reflects expected future earnings from its insurance book.

The group said it expects global economic uncertainty to continue. It noted growth opportunities in African markets, including Namibia, where demand for insurance and financial services is rising.
