Stakeholders in the Erongo region will meet later this month to discuss how communities can benefit more from tourism.

The Erongo Regional Tourism Forum will host a stakeholder engagement on 16 April 2026 at Daureb Isib Rest Camp in Uis.

The session aims to raise awareness about tourism opportunities and encourage local participation.

Tourism remains a key part of Namibia’s economy, supporting jobs, investment and growth.

The Erongo region is one of the country’s main tourism areas, with destinations such as Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and the Brandberg area attracting visitors throughout the year.

Erongo governor Nathalia |Goagoses said more communities need to take part in tourism activities.

“As we are all aware, tourism in Namibia is widely recognised as a significant contributor to job creation, investment and economic growth. The Erongo region is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty, cultural heritage and unique attractions that have the potential to boost tourism and contribute significantly to our local economy,” she said.

“However, most of our local community are not fully tapping into community-based tourism enterprises that will enable them to benefit from the tourism opportunities/products that are available in the region.”

The engagement aims to show communities how to take part in tourism and benefit from it.

Organisers said the forum will support small businesses and local entrepreneurs. It will also bring together government, the private sector and communities to work together.

The meeting is expected to highlight challenges and opportunities in the tourism sector in the region.
