Alpha Namibia Industries Renewable Power Limited (Anirep) has recorded a loss before taxation of N$16.8 million for the interim period, compared to a loss of N$5.8 million last year.
The group said the loss was driven by the timing of interest expense recognition after capitalisation stopped on some facilities and by higher funding deployed before full revenue ramp-up.
The group’s asset base rose to N$1.2 billion as of 31 August, up from N$1 billion in the same period last year. No interim dividends were declared or paid.
Anirep said the commissioning of the Khan Moses Mague //Garoëb PV Plant marked an important milestone after the plant went through a full testing phase and was declared commercially operational.
Phase 1 of the Otjiwarongo 5.61 MWp plant upgrade was completed at the end of July 2025.
It increased output by 25% in August through panel, cabling and inverter replacements. Phase 2 will add 7.81 MWp and a 2 MWac/10.16 MWh RESS/BESS system, which is expected to triple energy output in the coming periods.
The group generated consolidated revenue of N$34.1 million, a 9% rise from the N$31.2 million reported last year. ANIREP also earned N$26.9 million in intercompany revenue from EPC works at plants under construction. Gross profit increased to N$24.6 million from N$21.8 million, supported by stronger operating margins. The group said continued investment and related financing costs weighed on bottom-line performance.
Anirep’s renewable energy pipeline is on track to exceed 190 MWp. This includes the 25 MWp Khan Moses Mague //Garoëb solar plant, a 45% stake in the 50 MWp CERIM Wind Project, the Otjiwarongo expansion, and the 100 MW Kokerboom Solar Development.
The Otjiwarongo expansion will introduce Namibia’s first grid-connected 2MWac/10.16MWh RESS/BESS once it is complete in the fourth quarter of 2025. Anirep said the installation will support grid reliability and strengthen its role in energy storage.
The group completed the acquisition of a 45% shareholding in Cerim Lüderitz Energy for N$60 million.
The managing director, Iyaloo ya Nangolo, said, “I am excited that we have now started exporting energy into the grid at the Khan Moses Mague //Garoëb plant, and we have increased our generation capacity to 38.34 MWp, including 3 MWp of rooftop installations. Building on this success, we are well underway with the next phase of growth, with the expansion of the Otjiwarongo PV Park nearing completion, which will bring the first grid-tied and forming BESS/RESS in the country.”
He said IPP revenue grew to N$23.9 million from N$18 million, supported by improved plant availability and stable output.
In the 1.5 months that the Khan Moses Mague //Garoëb plant was online during the reporting period, it generated 10.9 million kWh and earned N$5.37 million, beating its performance targets.
