Beverage imports averaged N$325 million between July 2024 and July 2025, with November 2024 recording the highest value at N$489 million, the Namibia Statistics Agency has reported.

During the same period, exports averaged N$111 million. July 2024 registered the highest export value at N$189 million, while April 2025 recorded the lowest at N$62 million.

The agency said that in July, Namibia exported blankets worth N$398 104, mostly as re-exports, primarily to Angola. Imports of blankets in the same month amounted to N$8.1 million, mainly from South Africa, China, and Pakistan. Blanket imports over the year averaged N$6.8 million, peaking at N$14.4 million in May 2025 and reaching the lowest value of N$2.7 million in September 2024.

On the demand side, sugar and sugar confectionery dominated imports, accounting for 19.9% of food items. Preparations of cereals held the second and third positions, making up 9.5% and 8.8%, respectively.

The top five imported food items accounted for 55% of the food basket in July.

That month, Namibia recorded a trade surplus on food items valued at N$834 million. The surplus was mainly driven by fish exports, which stood at N$1.7 billion.

From July 2024 to July 2025, Namibia’s overall trade in food items averaged a surplus of N$289 million.

The highest food trade surplus was in July 2025 at N$834 million, followed by December 2024 at N$669 million and June 2025 at N$647 million.

“Deficits were only recorded in three months over this period. These were in September 2024 (N$139 million), October 2024 (N$166 million) and November 2024 (N$258 million),” the agency said.
