Windhoek – BFS Fund Manager has appointed Theopolina Kapani-Emvula as its new Chief Executive Officer, signalling a renewed push to expand financing support for Namibia’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Kapani-Emvula, who assumed the role in December 2025, takes over at a time when access to capital remains a key constraint for many local businesses. Her mandate includes steering the organisation’s strategic direction and strengthening its position as a funding partner to SMEs seeking to scale operations and participate more meaningfully in the economy.
She brings a diverse professional background spanning engineering, infrastructure advisory and project finance, with experience gained across both European and Namibian markets. This blend of technical and financial expertise is expected to support BFS Fund Manager’s ambition to broaden its funding solutions and deepen its developmental impact.
Her appointment marks what the company describes as a new phase of growth, as it seeks to consolidate its role in Namibia’s enterprise financing landscape.
Kapani-Emvula said her focus will be on reinforcing the institution’s credibility while expanding its reach within the SME ecosystem.
“My hope for BFS Fund Manager is that it continues to be a trusted, high-integrity institution that mobilises capital with purpose, enabling SMEs and credible enterprises to grow, strengthening local value chains and delivering measurable impact for Namibia’s economy,” she said.
BFS Fund Manager operates as an unlisted investment manager, providing tailored financing solutions to Namibian businesses across key sectors. Its offerings include working capital facilities, purchase order finance and performance guarantees, tools aimed at helping smaller firms overcome liquidity constraints and unlock larger contract opportunities.
The company plays a niche but increasingly important role in bridging the financing gap faced by SMEs, particularly those seeking to integrate into bigger supply chains or execute sizeable projects.
Under Kapani-Emvula’s leadership, BFS Fund Manager is expected to expand both its geographic and sectoral footprint, while exploring new funding instruments designed to support sustainable business growth.
Her appointment comes amid a broader policy and market focus on strengthening Namibia’s SME sector, widely viewed as a critical driver of employment, innovation and economic diversification.
