A mining truck owned by Beifang Mining Services fell down a wall of one of the pits on the premises of the Husab Mine on Wednesday during lunchtime. Witnesses said operations at the mine have been temporarily suspended as a result. The truck plunged into the waste dump, and the current condition of the truck operator remains unknown. Hanse-Himarwa to receive official funeral

President Nangolo Mbumba has conferred an official funeral on the late Katrina Magdalena Hanse-Himarwa.The decision was announced on Monday.Mbumba said the date and place of the burial will be determined in consultation with her family.Hanse-Himarwa, born on 22 January 1967, died on 14 July 2024 at the age of 57.She served as the minister of education, arts and culture. N$4.1 million allocated for rural sanitation and development

The Oshikoto Regional Council has allocated N$4.1 million for rural sanitation and development programmes for the 2024/2025 financial year.The decision was made at the council's third meeting held on 8 July 2024.N$3.3 million of the funds will be used to construct 180 toilets in 10 constituencies, including Guinas, Nehale Lya Mpingana, Omuthiya, Eengodi, Okankolo, Omuntele, Onyaanya, Onayena, Oniipa, and Olukonda. Old Mutual Namibia’s managing director for corporate segment, Patricia Olivier has been appointed as a member of the Meat Corporation of Namibia’s (Meatco) new board of directors.Olivier’s appointment was announced by the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises. Nurse ordered to pay costs in defamation case

The Windhoek High Court yesterday ordered a nurse from northern Namibia to pay the legal costs of businessman Shapwa Kanyama and his wife Beata Kanyama.The order follows a defamation lawsuit against Mathilde Kadhikwa.The Kanyama couple is suing Kadhikwa for N$400 000 over remarks made on social media on 30 May 2022.These remarks came days after the couple's N$10 million wedding on 27 May 2022 in Oniipa, Oshikoto region.Earlier this year Kadhikwa summoned the minister of health Kalumbi Shangula and his executive director Ben Nangombe to testify.Shangula is excused from attendance, but Nangombe must attend court on 17 July.The case is…
