Erasmus Shalihaxwe Namibia has improved its position in the latest World Netball rankings, moving from 19th to 18th place among 49 netball-playing nations worldwide.  According to World Netball, rankings are determined by points earned from match results and the strength of opponents. A team earns 50 points more than their opponent’s rating for a win and 50 points less for a loss. Since 1 July 2020, Namibia has played 26 international matches, accumulating 1 326 points. Erasmus Shalihaxwe The Namibian Football Association (NFA) General Secretary, Charles Siyauya, will be laid to rest at Bukalo Village in the Zambezi region on 11 March.  The NFA announced the funeral arrangements on Thursday.  Siyauya passed away on Monday after a short illness at a local hospital in Windhoek. Ester Mbathera  Paraplegic sport has made a monumental leap forward because athletes in para-athletics in field events can now receive a national classification with full confidence and credibility.  This development comes after coach Naomi Schmidt and Marieke Mocke, the physiotherapist of the national team and the national classifier Boccia Namibia, were officially certified last week as national athletics classifiers. Erasmus Shalihaxwe Namibian professional boxer, Charles Shinima fell short in his bid for the World Boxing Council (WBC) super welterweight title against South African boxer, Brandon Thysse over the weekend. The fight took place at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.  Shinima suffered his second professional loss as the judges awarded the victory to Thysse in a closely contested match, crowning the South African the new super welterweight champion.  Shinima’s first loss came in March 2024 against Denis Nurja, when he sustained an injury during the fight.
