One of Namibia’s biggest law firms, Dr Weder, Kauta & Hoveka Incorporated (WKH), is set to split at the end of this month.
The firm confirmed that some of its top directors will leave to form a new practice.
Its directors, Patrick Kauta, Frieda Kishi, Magano Erkana, and Mercy Kuzeeko, together with associates and support staff, will establish Kauta, Barendse & Kishi Incorporated. The new firm will trade as CDH Namibia.
“Namibia deserves a future-fit commercial law firm,” Kauta told the Windhoek Observer.
According to a letter sent to clients on 18 August 2025, CDH Namibia will become the official Namibian partner of the South African legal powerhouse Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr (CDH South Africa).
The new firm will specialise in commercial litigation, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, conveyancing, taxation, labour, project finance, competition law, oil and gas, and administrative law.
The alliance will also bring a skills transfer programme to strengthen local expertise.
WKH, established in 2006, will continue operating under a new name from 30 September 2025.
According to the law firm, clients whose cases are being handled by lawyers moving to CDH Namibia will have their matters transferred from 1 September 2025.
“Those wishing to make alternative arrangements must inform the firm by 22 August 2025. Clients have also been reminded to settle outstanding invoices by 28 August 2025,” said Kishi.
In the same letter, both firms assured clients that their legal matters will be handled without disruption.
“We value the trust you have placed in us and remain committed to ensuring your legal matters are handled with excellence, professionalism, care, and diligence,” it read.
