FNB Namibia Retail has appointed Mbo Luvindao as its new chief executive officer.
Luvindao steps into the role with more than 20 years of senior and executive leadership experience in Namibia’s banking and financial services sector.
He began his career at Bank Windhoek, where he held several leadership roles, including head of the SME segment. He later joined NamPost as executive for financial services, where he led the Savings Bank and helped shape and implement the organisation’s strategy.
Before joining FNB, Luvindao served as chief commercial officer at Letshego Bank Namibia.
He was responsible for driving the bank’s commercial strategy and overseeing its execution.
Luvindao has also served on various industry platforms, giving him extensive exposure to the financial services environment and a strong understanding of regulatory, technological and strategic developments in the sector.
His appointment follows the transition of former retail CEO Nangula Kauluma to her new role as chief executive officer for retail, FNB Broader Africa, within the FirstRand Group.
Reflecting on his new position, Luvindao said, “The opportunity to join FNB Namibia is both an honour and a privilege. I am mindful of the shoes I will be filling, given the strong leadership legacy within this institution, which is recognised for its innovation, customer focus, and operational excellence. I look forward to helping strengthen our retail franchise, supporting the bank’s strategic priorities, and advancing our commitment to delivering value to communities across Namibia.”
FirstRand Namibia CEO Conrad Dempsey welcomed him to the team.
“We are honoured to welcome Mbo to the FNB Namibia leadership team. His extensive experience, strategic insight, and deep understanding of the Namibian financial sector make him exceptionally well-suited to lead our retail business. I am confident that his vision, professionalism, and leadership will guide FNB Retail into its next chapter of sustainable growth and innovation,” he said.
Luvindao holds a Master of Business Administration from MANCOSA and has completed the Senior Managers Development Programme at Stellenbosch Business School. He also holds certifications from the Payments Association of South Africa and the Retail Banking Institute in Ireland.
