Namibia Oil and Gas last week unveiled its second biannual industry report, bringing together policymakers, executives, financial institutions and industry professionals to reflect on developments in the country’s oil and gas sector.

The launch was supported by Africa Provider Offshore Services.

The report provides data on exploration activity, key projects and supply-chain trends in the local energy market.

It tracks sector growth and investor interest as Namibia’s offshore discoveries continue to shape the industry.

Sanjay Korteweg, founding partner of Namibia Oil and Gas, said the publication aims to support collaboration and provide reliable information.

“This biannual industry report reflects how far Namibia’s oil and gas sector has progressed. It is about sharing credible insights, strengthening collaboration, and ensuring stakeholders remain aligned as the sector continues to mature,” Korteweg said.

He added that the initiative ensures industry information remains accessible to Namibians.

The chief executive officer of Africa Provider Offshore Services, Véronique Herman, said access to accurate data is key for local companies seeking to participate in the sector.

“Informed decision-making is critical in a high-risk industry. Namibian companies operating in the energy sector need to support one another and will be stronger together,” Herman said.

Cobus Theyse, who presented the report, said it offers an overview of current and upcoming projects, exploration work and supply-chain developments.

He said the information helps local businesses and investors identify opportunities and understand the country’s energy ecosystem.

“The report is not just numbers and charts; it’s a platform for conversation and planning among Namibians who are shaping the future of our energy sector,” Korteweg added.

The launch also opened discussions on long-term growth, risk management and sustainable development within the industry.

Namibia’s oil and gas sector has evolved over the past decade, driven by offshore exploration along the Atlantic coast and increased investment in local energy services.

Recent activity has included seismic surveys and offshore drilling aimed at identifying commercial oil and gas reserves.

The sector remains in a development phase, with space for Namibian companies to provide support services, supply-chain solutions and local content for exploration and production projects.

According to the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy, government policy focuses on local participation, sustainable growth and job creation while maintaining regulatory oversight.

Industry publications such as the Namibia Oil and Gas biannual report are becoming reference tools for stakeholders.

They provide market data, outline investment prospects and give insight into project timelines, risks and emerging trends.

They also create a platform for dialogue between policymakers, operators, investors and local businesses.
