Kali appointed to Bank Windhoek board

Capricorn Group Limited, a Namibian financial services group listed on the Namibian Stock Exchange (NSX), has announced a keyboard appointment at its major subsidiary, Bank Windhoek Limited. The board has confirmed the appointment of Daniel Kali as an independent non-executive director, effective 25 July.

This appointment follows the group’s established nomination policy and has received full regulatory approval. Kali’s addition to the board is expected to strengthen the company’s governance and oversight capabilities. The board has extended a warm welcome to Kali, expressing confidence in the value of his future contributions. Kali is a long-serving executive of the De Beers Group in Namibia. 

The announcement complies with listing requirements under both paragraph 3.59 of the Namibia Securities Exchange Listing Requirements and paragraph 6.42 of the JSE Limited Debt and Specialist Securities Listings Requirements.

Meanwhile, Oceana Group Limited, a South African-based food and fishing group with listings on the JSE, A2X, NSX, and OTCQX, has also announced a board-level appointment. The company confirmed the appointment of Mamongae Mahlare as an independent non-executive director, effective 1 September. 

Mahlare brings over 27 years of leadership experience across sectors, including eCommerce, FMCG, and agri-processing. Her previous roles include executive chairman and group CEO of Takealot Group, CEO of Illovo Sugar South Africa, and senior roles at SABMiller, Bain & Company, and Unilever. She holds a BSc from the University of the Witwatersrand and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

In addition to her board responsibilities, Mahlare will serve on Oceana’s Social, Ethics, and Transformation Committee and the Remuneration Committee. The board expressed its enthusiasm for her appointment and looks forward to her contributions to the company’s continued growth and transformation agenda. –Johannesburg Stock Exchange
