The second edition of the MTC Branding and Marketing Indaba kicked off in Windhoek on Wednesday.
The indaba brings together over 400 delegates from across Namibia and Africa.
Held under the theme “Marketing from the Heart”, the three-day event brought together professionals in branding, marketing and communications.
The Indaba focused on storytelling, building brands and improving communication strategies in a changing digital space.
Participants took part in discussions on how to shape narratives and strengthen brand identity across the continent.
The event positioned itself as a growing platform for industry players to share ideas and learn from each other.
MTC chief brand, marketing, communications and sustainability officer Tim Ekandjo said Africans must take control of their own stories.
“If we are to build an admirable African brand, we must start by changing how we see ourselves as Africans before expecting the rest of the world to shift their perceptions. This requires collective participation. That is why I am encouraged by the recent launch of the Pan Africa Creative Council by Opportunity Africa, which aims to advance a narrative that contributes to building the Africa we want.”
Ekandjo said MTC aimed to build a platform that serves both Namibia and the continent.
“This Indaba will, without a doubt, become Africa’s premier branding and marketing platform within the next two years—built in Namibia but serving the continent with pride. We encourage delegates to learn as much as possible over these three days and return to transform how their organisations and institutions operate.”
He also called on industry experts to form a formal body for branding, marketing and communications in Namibia.
He said MTC was ready to support and co-fund such an initiative to help professionalise the industry.
Speaking at the event, minister of information and communication technology Emma Theofelus commended MTC for hosting the indaba.
She urged delegates to take ownership of their voice and help strengthen Brand Namibia.
The event featured 21 speakers from Namibia, Zambia, Kenya, Botswana, South Africa, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
Attendees shared ideas, built networks and explored new ways to improve their work in branding and communication.
The Indaba was set to conclude with a gala dinner on 10 April 2026, which includes with an Excellence Awards Ceremony recognising professionals in branding, marketing, communications and advertising.
