MTC Maris has signed an agreement with Kazang to expand access to mobile money services across Namibia, with a focus on underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
Kazang brings a national network of more than 5 500 agents.
This network gives Maris wider reach in urban centres, informal settlements and remote rural areas.
MTC Maris executive director Kayembe Ilunga said the partnership supports Maris’ goal of full financial inclusion.
“Through this partnership, we will drive and accelerate our core mandate of ensuring that every Namibian, regardless of location or economic status, can access essential financial services through a trusted local agent.”
Ilunga said Kazang’s distribution network will reduce travel time and costs for customers.
“Kazang has vast established distribution points, allowing us to deepen financial inclusion by reducing travel time and cost for customers needing cash-in, cash-out, or wallet services. It enables us to provide secure and regulated e-money channels that are in line with Namibia’s Anti-Money Laundering and Bank of Namibia’s (BoN) requirements.”
On growth, Ilunga said Maris has recorded strong uptake.
“Since January 2026, Maris has a total of over 500 000 registered customers.”
He said the partnership is an important step, but work continues to strengthen operations and service quality.
“We continue to mature our operational, technical, and agent-support capabilities, ensuring that as the network grows, service quality grows with it. Hence, we are investing in field support, training, compliance, and customer-centred offerings.”
Ilunga said the agreement will help bring digital financial services closer to households across the country.
“With this agreement, we are decisively building a financial ecosystem where every Namibian household can access digital payments, remittances, and e-money services safely and conveniently – from Katima Mulilo to Opuwo, from urban taxi ranks to the most remote rural communities.”
Maris has previously said its goal is to enable millions of customers to access financial services through their mobile devices, improving access to finance and supporting financial inclusion.
