The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) has registered more than one million taxpayers for the 2024/25 financial year.

By 31 March 2025, NamRA had registered 1 009 926 taxpayers.

Of these, 575 136 were active e-filers on the ITAS platform. The total number of active tax accounts stood at 1 048 918 during the period.

Revenue collection also increased. By the end of March 2025, NamRA recorded net revenue collections of N$88.6 billion, exceeding its target of N$85.3 billion.

After tax refunds of N$10.4 billion, total net revenue reached about N$98.9 billion. This reflects a 15% increase compared to the previous year.

Domestic taxes made up the largest share of revenue. They contributed 64% of total collections, amounting to N$56.5 billion and exceeding the target by 2.8%.

Customs and excise revenue accounted for 36%, generating N$32.1 billion, which is 105.6% of the target.

NamRA said the results come from improved compliance, efforts to grow the tax base and better efficiency in tax administration and enforcement.

The agency has also extended its tax amnesty programme by two years. Taxpayers now have until 31 October 2026 to regularise their tax affairs.

The programme started on 1 April 2023 and was due to end on 31 October 2024.

It was extended on 30 October 2024 by the then minister of finance.

Under the programme, taxpayers must register on ITAS, submit outstanding returns, pay the main tax amount in full and apply for amnesty.

During the 2024/25 financial year, 81,796 taxpayers joined the programme. This generated N$2.5 billion in revenue. Interest worth N$2.8 billion was reversed, while penalties amounting to N$46.6 billion were waived.
