Nedbank’s #GetMoneyFit aims to strengthen financial wellness

Nedbank Namibia’s newly launched #GetMoneyFit campaign aims to help people take control of their financial wellbeing by building consistent and intentional money habits for long-term financial strength.

The campaign encourages people from all walks of life to make small, daily steps toward financial stability, regardless of their income level or life stage.

Launched alongside the Nedbank Desert Dash on Wednesday, the campaign reflects the bank’s broader focus on overall wellbeing, linking physical fitness with financial fitness.

While the Desert Dash celebrates physical endurance, #GetMoneyFit focuses on financial endurance and the discipline needed to build a secure future.

Nedbank Namibia chief commercial officer, JG van Graan, said the campaign seeks to turn financial ideas into practical actions that help people understand their relationship with money. “We want to equip people with the know-how and tools to develop intentional habits that will compound over time and lead to lasting financial success. Very few people start a fitness journey as experts with an 8- to 12-week programme already mapped out. Often, we need a bit of handholding, a coach, a system, a guide,” he said.

He said the initiative goes beyond marketing, describing it as a guiding philosophy rather than a sales campaign.

“It is a movement that invites every Namibian to rethink their relationship with money and take small, daily steps toward lasting financial strength. The campaign is built on the insight that financial fitness, like physical fitness, is achieved through consistent effort and the right support. It starts with understanding your current financial health, asking honest questions like, ‘Where am I now?’ What habits do I need to change? What goals do I want to reach?”

The campaign targets all Namibians, including students, parents, professionals and retirees. It encourages people to begin with simple actions such as setting savings goals, reviewing budgets, or becoming more aware of their spending habits.

“Just like training for a race, financial fitness requires commitment,” van Graan said.
