The newly elected Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) Divundu Branch committee will focus on assisting informal traders to improve their operations.
“Divundu has a large number of informal traders and vendors and assisting them to improve their operations will be one of the key priorities on our agenda,” said the new chairperson, Mario Sawahenga.
He said the committee would also prioritise unity and collaboration among local entrepreneurs.
“Teamwork and proactive engagement are essential if we want to see tangible results. We must work together and include all partners in advancing the branch’s objectives,” he added.
The Divundu business community elected Sawahenga as chairperson and Mittred Kuvuritha Kupepa as vice chairperson during a consultative meeting held on 9 October 2025.
Other members of the Executive Committee are Frans Shinduvi, Wensel Kana, Muremi Shinkumi, Hungamo Kamburi, and Herbert Simasiku.
The meeting, led by NCCI chief executive officer Titus Nampala, aimed to strengthen local business representation and empower entrepreneurs in the Kavango East Region.
It provided a platform for business owners to share their challenges and propose ways to improve cooperation between the chamber, local leadership and entrepreneurs.
Participants highlighted the need for empowerment programmes, structured dialogue, and better access to business information.
Nampala urged the new branch leadership to focus on results.
“As a country, we need to move away from merely complaining about issues and instead focus on creating dialogues that lead to practical solutions,” he said.
He noted that Divundu’s natural resources offer strong economic potential.
“Divundu, with its forestry and tourism riches, requires strong business leadership to ensure that these resources are translated into real economic benefits for the community,” he stated.
He urged the new leadership to foster unity among entrepreneurs and stimulate regional growth.
“The new leadership must take initiative and drive the transformation of the Kavango East Region through entrepreneurship and innovation,” Nampala said.
The NCCI said the new committee represents a mix of sectors, including civil engineering, trading, automotive repair and catering, reflecting Divundu’s diverse business landscape.
