The Namibia Football Association (NFA) and the Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) have reaffirmed their commitment to establishing a self-managed top-tier league.

This was confirmed at the NPFL Chairmen’s Forum held at Soccer House over the weekend.

NFA interim secretary general Cassius Moetie announced on Tuesday that clubs discussed the transformation of the men’s premier league.

A key outcome was the unanimous endorsement of three clubs promoted from the nationwide first division to the NPFL.

The new clubs joining the 2025/26 season are Eleven Arrows Football Club from Walvis Bay, Life Fighters Football Club from Otjiwarongo, and Rundu Chiefs Football Club from Rundu.

“These clubs are no strangers to the top-tier league for men’s football, and they join well-established clubs like champions African Stars SC, Blue Waters FC, Bucks Buccaneers FC, Eeshoke Chula-Chula FC, Julinho Sporting FC, Khomas NamPol FC, King Kauluma Palace FC, Mighty Gunners FC, FC Ongos, Tigers FC, and Young African FC, with UNAM FC a noticeable absentee from the NPFL Chairmen’s Forum,’’ said Moetie.

He confirmed that all clubs represented at the forum reaffirmed their support for the current Association Management Model of the NFA.

“By the same token, the NPFL signalled a strategic shift toward a self-managed league structure aligned with best governance practices,” he said.

To lead the transition, an interim committee was appointed, chaired by Nikanor Ashipala and including Frans Mbidi, Fabio Do Rego, Americo de Almeida, and Mathias Haufiku.

“The interim committee is tasked with the drafting of a transformation roadmap to be discussed and agreed upon with the NFA,” said Moetie.

“We are looking forward as football people to continue to paint a positive narrative of our beautiful game and assist the NFA Executive Council, management, and staff to build on the upward trajectory the NFA has achieved to date.”
