NSX market value rises to N$2.8 trillion in 2025

The Namibia Securities Exchange (NSX) recorded growth in 2025, with total market capitalisation rising to N$2.8 trillion by the end of the year, up from N$2.4 trillion in 2024.

Data from the 2025 Bank of Namibia (BoN) annual report shows that the NSX overall index increased by 11% to close at 1 998.49 points, compared to 1 801.18 points in 2024. 

The increase followed gains seen in global equity markets during the same period.

The local index recorded stronger growth. It rose by 16.8% to 807.75 points, up from 691.32 points a year earlier. Market capitalisation for locally listed companies also increased, rising by 17.7% to N$55 billion.

Trading activity on the overall market increased. Total volumes traded rose by 74.5% to 44.3 million shares. 

The value of trades increased by 44.2% to N$2.49 billion. The number of deals also went up by 14.6% to 1 264 transactions.

Activity in the local market declined. Volumes traded dropped by 48.9% to 4.47 million shares. 

The value of trades fell by 10.9% to N$110 million. Despite this, the number of deals increased by 30.8% to 391.

No new listings were recorded on the exchange in 2025, continuing the trend seen in the previous two years.

The data shows that the broader market performed well, while trading in locally listed shares remained low.
