Bank Windhoek honoured top estate agents at its Coastal Estate Agent Awards held in Swakopmund on Friday.

The event recognised agents and agencies for their performance in the coastal property market.

LaRochelle Properties was among the top performers.

Rochelle Mulder received recognition in the Loan Business category for deals between N$15 million and N$20 million.

The agency also won gold in the Special Awards of Excellence for Achiever of the Year in the coastal region.

HomePage Estate Agency received silver in the same category.

In the Loan Business category for N$10 million to N$15 million, Alexia Mofokeng of Mofokeng Realtors, Velia Liebenberg of Henties Bay Estates and Chrissi Van Dyk of HomePage Estate Agency were recognised.

Karen Leemans of HomePage Estate Agency was recognised in the N$7.5 million to N$10 million category.

Several agents were recognised in the N$5 million to N$7.5 million category.

These include Ivo Mateus of JUST Property Coastal, Cecilia Muller of Grobbies Estates, Claudia Lofty-Eaton of Ramos Realtors Namibia, Pieter Deval of Primavera Properties, Melany Hill of Nels Property Consultants, and Olga Human and Morne Henry Human of Human & Co Real Estate.

Steinie Steinbach of Henric Estates received a bronze award for the sale of distressed properties.

Bank Windhoek’s chief financial officer and acting executive officer of specialist finance, Zenaune Kamberipa, said the coastal property market plays a growing role in the economy.

He said the region accounts for about one-fifth of housing transactions in Namibia.

He linked the growth to migration, tourism investment and rental demand.

Kamberipa said building approvals in Swakopmund have increased, with most linked to residential development.

He said oil and gas developments in the Orange Basin could affect property markets in the future.

“In this environment, banking is not passive; it is catalytic. As demand rises for housing finance, commercial property loans and industrial funding linked to oil and gas activity, we remain committed to partnering with the coastal property sector to support growth that is not only faster but also fairer and more resilient,” he said.

He warned that growth must be managed.

“Momentum without management can become pressure,” Kamberipa said.

He said there is a need to address affordability, supply and infrastructure challenges.

The event also highlighted the launch of the 26th Bank Windhoek Cancer Apple Project.

The project has raised N$38.4 million for the Cancer Association of Namibia since 2000.

The bank encouraged support through its digital platforms.
