Desert Foxes Football Club, Erongo region’s newly promoted and only representative in the FNB Women’s Super League, has appealed for financial and material support ahead of its top-flight debut on 24 January 2026.

The teenage squad from Walvis Bay faces major logistical and financial demands as it prepares for competition at the elite level. The club is calling on corporations, community leaders, and residents to support the campaign.

Club chairman Paulus Shipanga said travel expenses are the greatest challenge.

“Our main challenges are accommodation, transport, and meals, which will cost us about N$35,000 per travelling weekend,” Shipanga told the Windhoek Observer.

“We are seeking assistance, financially or in kind, in addition to the grants we’ll receive from the league,” he said.

As the only western team in the league, the Desert Foxes will travel often to northern and central Namibia.

Their first top-tier match will be a home game against Khomas NamPol Ladies FC, followed by frequent away fixtures that place pressure on the club’s budget.

Shipanga said he has approached Natalia Goagoses for support and hopes the region will back the team.

“We don’t have a main sponsor onboard yet. Financially, it’s going to be a whole lot for us to achieve what we want to achieve, and for us to stay in the league,” he said.

The club is also seeking funds for player incentives and possible squad additions.

Shipanga said the project goes beyond football.

“Our main goal is to uplift the girl child and keep them away from social ills like alcohol and drug abuse. This is a project, an ongoing process,” he said.

Founded in 2023 as a community initiative, the team of players aged 12 to 16 dominated the 2024/2025 NamPort Erongo Women Football League.

The side went unbeaten and conceded only one goal. Coach Baron Brown was named Coach of the Season, while striker Lucia Ndevahanga and goalkeeper Albertina Mbuka Amoonga won individual awards.

The promotion marked a first for the region. Shipanga said sustaining the platform for young women and representing Erongo at the national level now depends on community support.

“We have made it this far. I’m positive that companies from Erongo will come onboard,” he said.
