Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) has announced partnerships with two summer events along the coast.
The company will serve as the official transport partner for the Savanna Sound of Summer Festival and as a headline sponsor of the Camp Out Dune Fest.
MTC’s first partnership marks the 10th anniversary of the Savanna Sound of Summer Festival.
Eight MTC-branded buses, each with 65 seats, will run daily between Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and the Long Beach festival grounds.
The buses will operate in two shifts, from 10h00 to 16h00 and from 22h00 to 02h00.
The shuttle service is expected to transport about 3 000 festival-goers and complete 48 round trips over the festival period.
MTC chief brand, marketing, communications and sustainability officer Tim Ekandjo said the partnership focuses on safety and reliable transport.
“By making available safe and reliable transport, MTC will directly enable festival goers to have a secure journey to and from home, reinforcing our commitment to community well-being and promoting road safety during the festival and throughout the festive season.
We want to extend peace of mind and seamless transport, reinforcing our brand message: ‘The Network That Gets You Home Safely.’ We recognise that the festival is not just about great music and entertainment, but it is also about connecting festival-goers securely.”
MTC’s sponsorship also includes branding at bus terminals in Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and Long Beach.
Ekandjo said the company hopes the initiative will encourage safer behaviour on the roads.
“It is our wish that all those who will experience our safe and reliable bus service during this festival will become road safety advocates throughout this festive season so that we educate our fellow Namibians about the dangers of drinking and driving and reckless behaviour on our roads,” he said.
At the same time, MTC has partnered with The Camp Out Dune Fest as a powered-by sponsor to the value of N$720 000.
The one-day New Year’s Eve event will take place at the Dune Belt Amphitheatre in the Namib Desert and will feature three stages, including the MTC Afropulse Amapiano Stage.
Ekandjo said the desert setting makes the festival stand out.
“We are indeed excited to partner with the CampOut New Year’s Dune Festival because it allows us to celebrate Namibia’s beautiful scenery while at the same time marketing Namibia to the rest of the world. It is rare that you find events taking place in the desert giving you an experience designed to feel natural, creative and free with an absolute sense of desert serenity.”
