RA migrates to digital reminders for license renewals

The Roads Authority (RA) has started sending renewal reminders for vehicle licence discs and driving licences via SMS and email. This move replaces the printed notices previously delivered through NamPost.

“Going forward, all renewal notices will be sent via cell phone messaging (SMS) and email. Clients are urged to visit their nearest NaTIS office to request renewal notices and provide their updated contact details. The process will be subject to verification and positive identification,” the RA said.

The new digital system forms part of the RA’s shift to a paperless process. The goal is to improve communication and make renewals easier for motorists.

Motorists who already use the Online Licence Renewal platform do not need to visit a NaTIS office. Their contact details are already in the system.

The RA said renewal notices act as reminders that licence fees or driving licence validity are nearing expiry. The RA sends these notices after processing the billing but before the payment due date.

Corporate bodies, state-owned enterprises, and government offices can also request notices on behalf of their representatives. They must email the RA helpdesk and provide valid identification.

The RA encouraged all motorists to register for the digital service on its website to manage renewals more easily.
