In a heartwarming gesture that highlights its commitment to education and community development, Rössing Uranium recently made a significant donation to the Tsumkwe Senior Secondary School.
The donation included 400 school bags filled with essential stationery items, aimed at supporting the learners in their educational journey.

The primary objective of the generous donation is to empower future employees and students, enabling them to concentrate on their studies while aspiring to reach greater heights, regardless of the challenges they may face.

Rössing’s Corporate Communication Manager, Daylight Ekandjo, reaffirmed the mining company’s dedication to investing in education.

Ekandjo stressed the pivotal role of education in shaping the future, calling it the foundation for progress.

She also shed light on Rössing Uranium’s commitment to community development through the Rössing Foundation, a Corporate Social Investment vehicle that has been making a positive impact on schools nationwide.

The groundwork for this substantial donation began last year when Rössing Uranium responded positively to a request for support from Women in Media.

The company pledged N$250,000 to facilitate this outreach initiative, demonstrating its genuine commitment to uplifting the educational prospects of the Tsumkwe community.

Ekandjo expressed hope that the school bags and stationery provided by Rössing Uranium would help alleviate some of the challenges faced by both students and teachers in Tsumkwe.

She emphasized that this donation represents a small but significant contribution to a shared goal of empowering young minds and fostering educational opportunities.

“It reflects Rössing Uranium’s belief in the potential of the young minds in Tsumkwe and the company’s commitment to fostering educational opportunities in the communities where it operates,” Ekandjo said while stressing the importance of partnerships in ensuring that every child receives the education they deserve.

School Principal Christof Ngavetene also extended his gratitude for the generous donation.

He recognized the positive impact it would have on the students and the entire Tsumkwe community.

“The donation serves as a shining example of a shared commitment to empowering young minds and fostering educational opportunities,” he said.
