Apple Music has announced the Africa Rising: Class of 2026, featuring six emerging artists from across the continent who are shaping the next chapter of African music.

Africa Rising is Apple Music’s artist development programme that supports up-and-coming African musicians with clear creative visions and global reach. The Class of 2026 highlights artists gaining recognition in their home countries while taking African music to wider international audiences.

The new cohort includes South African artist Ciza, Kenyan singer tg.blk, Ghanaian musician Gonaboy, Nigerian DJ and producer Damie, Nigerian pop artist Khid Ceejay, and Abuja-based Afro-pop artist ru.

Ciza said 2026 will be a key year for his career, with new releases and collaborations planned. These include an album titled Ciza’s Palace, expected in the first quarter. Kenyan artist tg.blk said fans can expect more music and visual content throughout the year as she continues to engage closely with her audience.

Nigerian DJ and producer Damie brings an Afro-house and tech-inspired sound to the programme. Ru focuses on Afro-pop driven by emotion and storytelling. Khid Ceejay described his selection as an important milestone, citing the value of being part of a platform that has previously highlighted leading African artists. Ghanaian musician Gonaboy blends highlife and hip-hop influences, describing his sound as rooted in African identity.

As part of the rollout, all six artists will feature on a special edition of Apple Music’s Africa Now Radio, hosted by Nandi Madida. The artists will share their creative journeys and outline their plans for the year ahead.

Launched in 2020, Africa Rising has supported several African artists who later achieved global recognition, including Tyla, Rema, Tems, Ayra Starr and Omah Lay.
