SKW retains U21 title after penalty shootout

Sport Klub Windhoek (SKW) successfully defended its title at the Bank Windhoek Ramblers Under-21 Football Tournament after beating Swallows in a penalty shootout in Windhoek. 

The final ended 2-2 in regular time, with both teams reduced to 10 players following red cards.

The match was tightly contested and kept fans engaged until the final whistle. 

After the win, SKW coach Lucky Kakuva thanked the organisers and sponsors for a well-run tournament. 

“We are honoured to partake in this tournament and cannot wait for the 2026 edition. Thanks to the Bank Windhoek and Ramblers partnership,” he said. 

Supporters erupted in celebration as SKW lifted the trophy again. 

The team now aims to win a third title in 2026, which would allow them to keep the trophy permanently.

In the semi-finals, Swallows beat Ramblers 2-1, while SKW advanced with a 4-1 win over Julinho. 

The third-place playoff saw Julinho defeat Ramblers in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw.

The top three teams shared N$22,500 in prize money. 

The winners received N$10,000, the runners-up earned N$7,500, and third place took home N$5,000. 

The winning team also received the floating trophy and medals.

Cruz Uwu-Khaeb (SKW), Shemeul Eduard Kasongo Nkosi (Ramblers), and Jesco Namiseb (Swallows) were the tournament’s top three goal scorers. 

SKW’s Sem Moses was named Best Goalkeeper, while Swallows’ Chris Eiseb won the Best Young Player award.

The fourth edition of the tournament took place from Wednesday, 18 June, to Saturday, 21 June 2025. 

Six teams participated, namely: Ramblers, Julinho, Swallows, Kasaona, SKW, and River Heights. 

The event also featured promotional activities and social media engagement, highlighting young football talent.
