Standard Bank appoints new chairman

Standard Bank Namibia Holdings Limited has announced to its shareholders the appointment of Isac Tjombonde as the board chairman.

The group said the appointment is with effect from 1 April 2024. Tjombonde currently holds the position of independent non-executive director in the Company.

“Regulatory approval for the appointment was obtained effective 5 February 2024. Herbert Maier will stay on the board as an Independent non-executive director and will retire from the board of directors of SBN Holdings Limited and Standard Bank Namibia with effect 23 April 2024,” the group told shareholders.

Furthermore, the group said Siphiwe Themba Bruce Madonsela has been appointed as non-executive director of SBN Holdings Limited and Standard Bank Namibia Limited. Madonsela currently holds the position of executive-regional chief financial officer in the Standard Bank Group. Regulatory approval for the appointment was obtained effective 2 February 2024.

The group further informed shareholders that Arlington Tendai Matenda has been appointed as chief financial officer (executive director) of SBN Holdings Limited and Standard Bank Namibia Limited with effect from 5 February 2024. Matenda currently holds the position of chief risk officer in the company.

“Regulatory approval for the appointment was obtained effective 2 February 2024.The appointments will be ratified by shareholders at the next annual general meeting of the Company. We congratulate Mr Tjombonde on his appointment as board chairperson and further welcome Messrs Madonsela and Matenda to the board of directors of the company,” the company said.

In the annual reported for the year ending 31 December 2022, the group said 2022 had been a year of renewed recovery for the group with strong growth in profit after tax of over 70%. SBN Holdings also successfully raised N$400 million in its debut green bond issuance, enabling the group to accelerate its progress in transitioning to a low carbon economy.
