Standard Bank Namibia has been named the Best Trade Finance Provider in Namibia in the 2026 Global Finance Best Trade Finance Providers Awards.
The award recognises the bank’s role in supporting cross-border trade, investment flows and business expansion.
It comes as Namibia prepares for increased activity in sectors such as mining, energy, oil and gas, logistics and export agriculture.
As global trade conditions shift and competition increases, businesses are seeking stronger risk management tools, efficient working capital solutions and reliable cross-border support.
Standard Bank Namibia said its Corporate and Investment Banking division has expanded its trade finance services to respond to these needs.
The bank offers trade finance solutions that help businesses manage liquidity, reduce risk and support operations across local and international supply chains.
The award recognises the work of the bank’s Namibian operations in serving local clients and industries.
Standard Bank Namibia also provides access to trade instruments that support imports and exports, structured finance for resource sectors and digital systems that improve transaction speed and visibility.
Nelson Lucas, head of corporate and investment banking at Standard Bank Namibia, said the recognition reflects the bank’s focus on supporting trade and economic growth.
“This award speaks to the trust our clients place in us and to the expertise of our teams who are committed to enabling seamless and secure trade flows. Namibia’s economic prospects are increasingly tied to how effectively local businesses can participate in regional and global markets. By combining local insight with our wider capabilities across Africa and beyond, we offer solutions that are scalable, competitive, and aligned to the realities of the Namibian business environment. Our focus remains on supporting clients as they invest, grow and compete in sectors that will shape Namibia’s economic future,” Lucas said.
The bank said it continues to invest in digital systems, market access initiatives and training programmes to support Namibian businesses.
Through partnerships, industry events and support for small and medium enterprises, the bank aims to help companies strengthen export readiness and manage cross-border transactions.
Standard Bank Namibia said expanding the country’s trade ecosystem remains important for economic growth, employment and investment.
