THE two men who were arrested today for allegedly murdering a man on Sunday before putting his body in an unplugged refrigerator were denied bail when they appeared in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.

Police say the murder happened at Windhoek’s Herero mall.

The suspects, identified as Malakia Matheus (23) and Amos Israel (25), were denied bail due to the seriousness of the charges, fear of abscondiing and public interest. The two are said to be Angolan nationals.

The deceased, Levi Paulus (22), who was employed as a bar tender is also from Angola. The suspects will return to court again on 27 January, 2022 while the Police is further investigating the matter and they are seeking legal representation. Their rights to a formal bail application have been explained.

It is reported that the deceased’s cousin alerted the Police after a smell from the bar in which his cousin worked. Police say Paulus was last seen on Friday.
