Teen girls raped in Ohangwena

Police in the Ohangwen Region reported that two teenage girls were raped over the past weekend.

On Friday at Oshikunde Village it is alleged that the arrested suspect, a 46-year-old Angolan man raped a 15-year-old girl in his room.

The suspect is employed as a domestic worker at a neighbour’s house.

“The suspect called the victim to his room, locked the door and removed the key. It is further alleged that the suspect then instructed the victim to undress herself, while he undressed himself, laid her down on her back and had sexual intercourse with her by force,” said Spokesperson of the Namibian Police, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi.

On the same day at Onanghulo Village, on the way to Endola, it is alleged that a 20-year-old Angolan man was arrested when he was found with a 14-year-old girl in a sleeping room.

“It is alleged that he undressed the victim and had sexual intercourse with her against her will,” she said.

Meanwhile, at the Bix Car Wash in the Single Quarters location, it is alleged that 49-year-old Brave Tjizera Kavari was stabbed to death with an unknown object on Saturday.

“The suspect stabbed the deceased with an unknown object, on the left side of the neck and he died on the spot. His next of kin was informed about his death,” Shikwambi said.

Police investigations into the matter will continue.

On Friday at Okarare Village the 68-year-old Tjooya Pari collapsed while sitting on a chair. He could not be revived and was declared dead a short while later.

Shikwambi said his next of kin have been informed and that the investigation continues in the matter is ongoing.
