Thirty public and private schools from eight regions are competing in the 2025 Capricorn Schools Netball League, which is heading into its national playoffs this August.
A total of 85 teams from Khomas, //Kharas, Hardap, Otjozondjupa, Kunene, Oshikoto, Omaheke, and Erongo regions are participating in the league.
The competition, now in its ninth year, is sponsored by Capricorn Group and supported by the Namibia Schools Sport Union (NSSU).
It includes players from under-12 to under-19 age groups and aims to promote growth, teamwork, and discipline through sport.
“The Capricorn Schools Netball League is more than a series of netball games; it’s a launchpad for personal development, teamwork, and striving for greatness,” said Marlize Horn, the group chief brand and corporate affairs officer at Capricorn Group.
“Every season, we see the league lifting the standard of school netball and helping shape the leaders of tomorrow.”
To support the sport beyond the court, the league hosted an Umpires Course led by Marielouw van der Merwe, a World Netball–sanctioned International Testing Panel instructor from South Africa.
More than 100 umpires were trained, with over 30 of them officiating live Super League matches held at Windhoek Gymnasium from 5 to 7 June. Capricorn Group covered all instructor costs for the training.
“We’re inspired by the talent and dedication we’re seeing this season,” said Liezel Garbers, Chairperson of the Capricorn Schools Netball League. “The teams have shown extraordinary commitment, and we’re looking forward to an action-packed finale next month.”
