Namibian actor and television personality Adriano Visagie will co-host the 10th edition of the Sotigui Awards, one of Africa’s leading film celebrations, in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. He will share the stage with Burkina Faso’s television personality Stéphanie Zongo.
The Sotigui Awards honour African actors and comedians from across the continent and the diaspora.
The event is organised by the Sotigui Academy and governed by APROCAD, in partnership with FESPACO, the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou.
This year’s ceremony takes place from 12 to 15 November 2025 under the patronage of Burkina Faso’s minister of communication, culture, arts and tourism, Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo. The theme for the 10th edition is “African Cinema and the Challenge of Sexual Harassment: From Indignation to Action”.
The awards have been held annually since 2016 and have become a respected platform celebrating film talent through various regional and continental categories.
Namibia has built a growing presence at the Sotigui Awards. In 2019, Visagie won the award for Best Actor in Southern Africa. In 2024, actor Alejandro Cooper won Best Youngest African Actor, becoming the first Namibian to take that title.
Visagie returns to the Sotigui stage for the seventh time in 2025, this time as co-host. His move from award winner to host marks a full-circle moment in his career and highlights the path he has carved in African cinema.
