AC Boxing Stable turns 10

Boxing promoter Immanuel Moses, known as African Connection (AC), says he built the AC Boxing Stable from scratch without any assistance.

He says he did it not for profit but to help children chase their dreams of becoming professional boxers.

The AC Boxing Stable celebrates its ten-year anniversary this week. Despite reaching this milestone, Moses says he still struggles to secure long-term sponsorship and continues to run and fund the stable himself.

“Ten years. No sponsors, just heart. For almost a decade, I’ve poured my own time, money, and energy into building something bigger than myself, a boxing programme for kids who need more than just a sport. No cameras. No sponsorships. Just me, the ring, and young fighters trying to find their path,” Moses said.

“Every glove, every mouth guard, every ride to an event, I have covered it. Not because I had to, but because I believe in these kids. I believe in what boxing teaches: discipline, resilience, and purpose. But it’s not easy. And it’s not sustainable alone.”

Moses explained that running a boxing stable without sponsors is tough, especially when it comes to organising fights.

He said he must cover costs such as transport, accommodation for visiting fighters, and payments in foreign currency.

He called for support in any form of financial aid, equipment donations, or help spreading awareness.

“I’m proud of what we’ve built, but I’m not too proud to say: I need support. Whether it’s financial sponsorship, equipment donations, or help spreading the word — it all makes a difference. If you believe in giving kids a fighting chance, reach out. Let’s build something together,” he said.

One of the stable’s top fighters, Flame “Special One” Nangolo, is set to defend his World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Super Featherweight title on 16 August in Windhoek.

He will face Rilwan Lawal of Nigeria, the reigning African Boxing Union (ABU) and Western Africa Champion.

“Lawal enters the ring with a dangerous reputation and a solid professional record of 24 wins and 3 defeats, promising a thrilling title clash fans won’t want to miss,” Moses said.

The event, set to take place at the Roman Catholic Hall in Windhoek, will feature a full undercard.

Charles Shinima will fight in the co-main event over eight rounds, alongside six other bouts showcasing the country’s rising boxing talents.
