The Katima Mulilo branch of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) has elected a new leadership team.
The branch had been without leadership since the previous Executive Committee’s term ended.
The branch recently hosted its elective general meeting on 10 October 2025 at the Zambezi Regional Council offices.
Entrepreneurs from various sectors, including small and large businesses, attended the meeting in large numbers.
The session started with a presentation by the NCCI Secretariat on the chamber’s role, membership benefits and advocacy work. It drew interest from both members and non-members who wanted to learn more about the chamber’s operations.
Participants discussed challenges faced by local entrepreneurs, such as limited engagement with regional and local leaders on business development.
The secretariat stressed the need for stronger participation to improve the business environment through public-private dialogue.
After the session, new members registered before elections were held. Sharon Zibo Limbo was elected chairperson, and Frankie Mwinga Ntemwa became vice chairperson. Other elected members are Mwaka Mukendwa, Richard Kakona, Sannety Sanyambe, Inonge Mabakeng, Michell Nguvauva, and Clara Likokoto.
They represent sectors such as tourism, horticulture, accommodation, informal trading, fishing and consultancy.
In her acceptance speech, Limbo called for improved coordination between the private sector and regional leadership.
“There has been a lack of coordination and a unified voice in the Zambezi Region. I am glad that with this leadership in place, we can now organise entrepreneurs and address operational challenges affecting business activity,” she said.
NCCI chief executive officer Titus Nampala urged the new committee to serve the business community with accountability.
“Regional development and transformation lie in your hands. Proactive engagement with stakeholders across the ecosystem will be key to advancing growth and opportunity in the region,” Nampala said.
The NCCI congratulated the new leadership and pledged support to the Katima Mulilo Branch as it strengthens private-sector representation in the Zambezi Region.
The election follows similar leadership renewals in Walvis Bay, Oshakati, and Windhoek, aimed at improving local business representation and advocacy across Namibia.
