Yours Truly Ideologically chose this week to look at the mushrooming of trade unions not knowing that this week would rob the country of one of her gallant revolutionary souls by the Name of Ignatius Shixwameni. Many tributes has since been pouring testifying to his revolutionary spirit. But few dare to put this spirit in its proper ideological context. Home Affairs Ministry ordered to fork out N$50 000 in assault damages for trans women

Tujoromajo Kasuto The Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security has today been ordered by High Court Judge Esi Schimming- Chase to pay N$50, 000 in damages to a transgender woman, Mercedez Von Cloete, after she was unlawfully arrested and experienced police brutality on July 6, 2017, in Windhoek. Von Cloete had initially sued the minister for N$ 200 000 for psychological shock, trauma, inconvenience and discomfort suffered as a result of the unlawful arrest and assault by a police officer only identified as Kavari." Man accused of EVM double voting found not guilty

Eba Kandovazu THE Katima Mulilo Magistrate’s court this week acquitted Lazarus Valentinus , who was in 2019 arrested on suspicion of attempting to cast his vote twice in the Presidential and National Assembly elections, due to a lack of evidence. The 40-year-old Valentinus was arrested at a poling station set up at Ngweze Primary School. His bail, amounting to N$ 2000 was subsequently refunded. At the commencement of the trial earlier this week, nearly two years after the incident,Valentino pleaded not guilty to the charge. The scheduled hearings will be taking place in the regions of Omaheke and Erongo from tomorrow, Friday, 12 November, to Sunday, 14 November, 2021. Eba Kandovazu Fishrot suspect Otniel Shuudifonya (35), this afternoon told the court that although the racketeering, conspiracy, fraud, theft and money laundering charges he faces “sound” serious”, the State does not have a strong case against him. Shuudifonya remarks during cross examination by State advocate, Cliff Lutibezi, who put the charges to the suspect. Shuudifonya is accused of receiving N$10.3 million from Fishcor. Tujoromajo Kasuto The National Correction Service (NCS) has appointed Johannes Konjore, as the Deputy Commissioner-General (DCG) for the Department of Operations effective from the 1st of November, 2021. His appointment comes after the departure of Tuhafeni Hangula who recently retired on medical grounds on 1 October after serving for over 31 years. Tributes pouring in after MPs passing

Eba Kandovazu TRIBUTES are pouring in after the passing of the All People's Party President, Ignatius Shixwameni, who collapsed this morning at Parliament, while attending a standing committee meeting. His nephew, Agapitus Hausiku, confirms that Shixwameni suffered a cardiac arrest. Paramedics who arrived 40 minutes after the MP collapsed declared him dead at the scene. According to Hausiku, Shixwameni had told him yesterday that he was feeling light headed and dizzy.
