Exports worth N$6.8 billion exported via sea

CHAMWE KAIRA Goods worth of N$6.8 billion, representing 52.8% of total exports left the country by sea in June, the Namibia Statistics Agency said. The basket of exports via sea comprised mainly of uranium, fish and copper and articles of copper. Goods exported via air accounted for 26.7% of total exports, of which its export basket was mainly made up of diamonds and non-monetary gold. Lastly, Road transportation accounted for 20.5% with fish, petroleum oils and live animals being the highest valued commodities transported via the respective mode. African airlines increase cargo market by 11.8%

The International Air Transport Association (IATA)’s year on year analysis of the African air cargo market in June saw an increase of 11.8% in demand for air cargo by African airlines. IATA said demand on the Africa–Asia market increased by 37.5% compared to June 2023, the strongest performance of all trade lanes. Capacity increased by 23.8% year-on-year. Dealer indicted for swapping synthetics for natural

New York diamond dealer Manashe Sezanayev has been charged with stealing from diamond merchants by replacing US$460 000 worth of natural diamonds with synthetic stones. Sezanayev, who operates Rachel’s Diamonds in New York’s diamond district, pleaded not guilty to the charges, which included stealing and fraud, according to a recent release from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
