Premier digital enabler, MTC Namibia, through its annual innovative initiative, the MTC Knockout Project, has this year resolved to dedicate the flagship social project to the senior national team the Tafel Lager Brave Warriors as they prepare for AFCON 2024.

The Knockout Project, which in its’ three editions raised money to sensitize and create dialogue around GBV, then continued to raise funds to build affordable housing for the homeless, before bolstering TVET students and upcoming gardeners to aid in food security, will this year lobby for financial support amongst corporates to bolster the Brave Warriors on their campaign for the continental tournament to be held in Ivory Coast.

MTC, during the launch today announced its support with an amount of N$2 million towards the national team while asking other corporates to pledge a minimum of N$100 000 towards the course.

MTC’s Chief Human Capital, Corporate Affairs, and Marketing Officer, Tim Ekandjo, at the launch, said, “We recognize the triumphant display of perseverance from our National Team. Despite various challenges faced, the boys, coach and entire management have bravely forged forward and like true warriors, qualified for the upcoming 2024 African top-tier football tournament, AFCON.

We are proud, and therefore dedicate this year’s edition of the MTC Knockout Project to celebrating their perseverance and aiding their journey to AFCON.”

“Through the project, we aim to raise at least an amount of N$5 million. And while we applaud NHE, NASRIA, and Dr. Hage Geingob Cup for their pledge, we are calling on more corporates in Namibia to come on board with a minimum of N$100 000 or more. Equally so, we are asking the patriotic Namibian public to make use of the SMS line as we hold hands in supporting our National Football Team,” added Ekandjo.

Embracing the spirit of national unity and supporting the campaign, the National Housing Enterprise (NHE) pledged an amount of N$100 000 to join MTC on this course. NHE, Communications and Marketing Manager, Mutonga Matali said: “We are happy to be continuing to contribute to social causes through a meaningful partnership with MTC. We hope this donation can really assist the team to prepare to be able to compete with ease.”

Namibia Special Risks Insurance Association (NASRIA) has also committed to supporting the course, with an amount yet to be made public.

At the launch, organizers of the DR Hage Geingob Cup, which is scheduled for 18 November 2023 have also committed that all gate proceeds to the event will be dedicated to the Brave Warriors to support the MTC Knockout Project initiative.

The public is also urged to play their part by contributing through an SMS line, by sending the text ‘Brave Warriors’ to 88488 at a charge of N$3 per SMS. The SMS line will be open until 6 December 2023, with the announcement of all proceeds raised to be made on 08 December 2023.
