NCA beef and meat products find market in Ghana

Meatco’s first consignment of the Namibian beef from the Northern Communal Areas (NCA) has arrived at Tema Port in Accra, Ghana.

Executive Director of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation Penda Naanda said the ministry continues to enhance its economic diplomacy and create market access for Namibian products.

“In this context, the Ministry is pleased to announce that, Meatco’s first consignment of the Namibian beef from the Northern Communal Areas has arrived at Tema Port in Accra- Ghana.

The meat is being imported by the Abanga Farms and Food Systems, a Ghanaian company that has signed a contract with Meatco as a sole distribution,” he said.

According to Naanda this is the first time that the Namibian beef is entering the Ghanaian market.

The High Commission of Namibia in Ghana organized a media event at Tema harbor, Accra, on 29 June 2022.

Attendance included the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration represented by Charity Gbedawo – Director for Africa, Members of Parliament, Traditional Authorities, Senior Officials of the Ghanaian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade, Agriculture, Veterinary Services, the Ghana Association of Ghana Industries, the Ghana International Trade and Finance Services,

Ghana Chef Association, the Namibia -Ghana Friendship Association and other heads of

industry.

The Sales manager of Meatco was also in attendance.

Naanda said this achievement is a significant boost for bilateral trade between Namibia and Ghana and a contribution to the enhancement of intra -African trade.

The Ministry commended Ashipala -Musavyi, High Commissioner of Namibia to Ghana and Mwilima Mushokobanji, Chief Executive Officer of Meatco and their respective teams for this milestone.

Equally, appreciation was extended to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Rural Development and Industrialization and Trade for the cooperation and support.

The Ministry also extend its appreciation to Namibian Breweries for making the launch of the event a great success.
