THE Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) has launched a drive to promote Namibia as a tourist destination of choice.

Nelson Ashipala, the NWR’s communications manager announced that the state-owned enterprise will lower accommodation fees for Namibians and residents of Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries in a bid to increase the number of tourists visiting Namibia.

According to Ashipala, the initiative offers up to 50 percent off at select resorts under the management of the NWR.

“The main focus is to promote domestic and regional tourism, which is part of NWR’s mandate,” said Ashipala.

He added that the offer will delight and reward those seeking to explore the country.

According to Ashipala, the initiative enables locals and SADC residents to experience the breathtaking beauty of the various areas at prices starting from as low as N$295 per night.

“We are thrilled to present this exclusive offer. With this special, we aim to make it easier for tourism local or regional to indulge in their favourite hobbies and create unforgettable memories,” he said, adding the offer will last from August to October.

Namibia, like the rest of the world, has been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the government since then has been on a drive to revive tourism because it is one of the top five sectors that contribute to the country’s gross domestic product
