As of 1 March 2024, all lodges under the management of the Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) will offer a discount of 60 percent for local visitors to make it easier for them to experience the diverse landscapes and unique wildlife that Namibia has to offer.

NWR Spokesperson, Nelson Ashipala, stressed the organisation’s commitment to making domestic travel more accessible to Namibians.

“Through our recent engagements with the public, we came to recognise the genuine concerns regarding the affordability of leisure travel,” Ashipala stated.

He said the special is open to all travellers, however, the hope is to see a strong uptake, mostly from locals.

As part of the special, popular lodges such as Khorixas Camp in Damara Land will be available for as little as N$220.00 per night, including breakfast.

Ashipala noted that while most lodges are included in the special, seasonal camps such as the Miles along the coastline are not part of the discounted offer.

The Independence Special will run throughout March, giving Namibians ample opportunity to take advantage of these exclusive discounts and embark on memorable adventures across the country.

“The NWR encourages interested individuals to book early to secure their preferred accommodations,” he urged.

The programme responds to the concern of Namibians about the high cost of recreational travel within the country, with a focus point, particularly on low-income earners whose budget is often constrained by essential needs.

“The special on offer will allow this group of people to experience leisure time with friends and families in celebrating Namibia’s 34th independence,” Ashipala said.
