Violence, death dominate weekend crime

The weekend crime report is dominated by multiple violent crimes with five people reported dead and others involved in violent altercations that led to serious bodily harm.

On Friday at about 22:30 at Okutupa bar in Karaburg in the //Kharas Region, it is alleged that Theofelus Lenga also know asRasta, died after he was stabbed in the left upper part of his chest with an unknown object. Police investigation in the murder continues.

In Walvis Bay’s Kuisebmund area, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly hit with an empty beer bottle on the head by her boyfriend and caused a serious open wound. The boyfriend has not been arrested yet and Police investigation continues.

In another assault case in the Ruacana Constituency in the Omusati Region at Omutumbe location in Etunda village, it is alleged that an Angolan national was stabbed with a broken bottle on his forehead. He sustained an open wound, and a swollen right eye. The motive is unknown and Police investigation continues.

On Friday morning, at Eemboo village, in Ongenga Constituency it is alleged that a 91-year-old pensioner David Haufiku committed suicide. He allegedly hanged himself with a rope from the roof of his sleeping room.

In the Kavango West Region, it is alleged that the lifeless body of a two-months-old toddler, Christine Nandjeva Kanema, was discovered by her mother in the early morning hours.

In a human wildlife conflict case, it is alleged that 66-year-old Sibeso Progress Lubinda drowned after he was attacked by a hippo, while fishing in the river on Friday.
