LPM’s Sadé Gawanas elected City of Windhoek Mayor

Eba Kandovazu LANDLESS People’s Movement (LPM) councilor Sade Gawanas was this afternoon elected the new Mayor of the Windhoek Municipal Council. Gawanas replaces Job Amupanda, Chief Activist of the Affirmative Repositioning (AR) Movement. She is deputised by Nudo’s Joseph Uapingene. AR and the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) jointly declined to vote or nominate candidates. Gawanas was nominated by Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) councillors. Gawanas, who accepted the symbolical mayoral chain, which her predecessor rejected to wear, is calling on the City’s leadership to fight against corruption, fraud, nepotism and irregularities. No council decision on CoW CEO position

Eba Kandovazu THE City of Windhoek Council still has not been served with the appointment recommendation of Conrad Lutombi by management as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and no decisions have been made whether or not to reject his appointment, Landless Peoples Movement (LPM) Councillor, Sadé Gawanas, says. Gawanas is responding to queries by the Windhoek Observer Newspaper, on claims that council members have rejected Lutombi as the incoming CEO. According to her, Council members have also not formerly seen the candidates’ score cards indicating Lutombi as the highest scorer.
