THE police are investigating two separate incidents in which babies died last Thursday and Friday.
According to Nampol Spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, a two-month-old baby boy,Gift Vries, died on Thursday while sleeping. The incident happened at Karasburg. The baby was taken to the hospital and was declared dead upon arrival. Shikwambi says a postmortem is underway to determine the cause of death.
Meanwhile, another baby girl, seven-month-old Ndapwa Jesaya was found dead in bed at Onayena last Friday. A postmortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Police in Opuwo are also busy with an inquest in which 16-year-old Rikondjera Tjiposa was killed by a grinder, in a purported freak accident last Thursday at his home. Police say Tjiposa was cut on the neck, causing him to bleed heavily and dying instantly.
A ten-year-older boy, Nikodemus Nefungo from Omuntele died on Friday after the donkey cart in which he was hit a gate and overturned.
In a separate incident, a 61-year-old woman was reportedly raped by a 42-year old man at Nuwerus, Aranos, on Friday.
In another rape incident, a 19-year-old man was arrested for raping a ten- year-old girl at Ondjokwe village, in the Onankali district yesterday.
The suspect is employed as a stay-in domestic worker at the victim’s house. Her parents were not at home, Shikwambi says.
