Swapo veteran cautions against too many VP candidates

Staff Writer A Swapo Party of Namibia veteran is warning the party against fielding too many candidates for the top four positions of the party for the upcoming party congress in November. Warning that too many candidates would further fragment the party, leading to breakaway factions which would seriously undermine the performance of the party in the 2024 Presidential and General Elections. “Since the party agreed current party President, Hage Geingob, as the sole candidate, the battle would be for the position of Vice President, posing the greatest threat for more fragmentation in the party if more candidates are nominated.”…

In a letter addressed to party Secretary General, Sophia Shaningwa, Ua-Ndjarakana says he was dumping the ruling party because Swapo has turned a blind eye and deaf ear to the plight of the descendants of the victims of the 1904-1908 genocide in which they lost everything including ancestral land. An estimated 100 000 Ovaherero, 10 000 Nama and an undisclosed number of San people were annihilated in the brutal aggression unleashed on them by German colonisers.…

Because of a negotiated settlement Namibia is hostage to Capitalism?

Kae Matundu Tjiparuro Eventually, 31 years after independence, Socialism is coming under the microscope in Namibia as evidenced by the ongoing debate on Socialism within the Swapo Party of Namibia under the auspices of the party school. Understandably there’s WhatsApp group that has been established within the party to spearhead the debate on the issue. Any ideologue worth his/her salt cannot but appreciate and commend the Swapo ideologues for initiating such a debate within the party which is long overdue. Not for its own sake, and not for that matter for Swapo now saving its face and buying time as…
